Formation PE40
The Niveau 2 is the main intermediate certification at Corsica Sub and the qualification that opens the deeper wreck and reef sites of Cap Corse. With this level, you can dive autonomously to 20m and with an instructor to 40m, which covers the Insuma (42m with escort), Le Poisson Lune (45m), A Squalliare Le Canyon (35m), and A Scorpina (38m). The Insuma is the standout dive — a WWII anti-submarine vessel torpedoed in 1943, with intact cannons, a propeller, large groupers, congers, and occasional sunfish. The course runs a minimum of 8 dives and two theory modules. Content covers assisting a diver in difficulty, dive planning within a director's framework, depth management, and decompression procedures. The price is 630€ including certification; equipment rental is extra. Minimum age is 16; minors need parental consent. A medical certificate and proof of prior certification (Niveau 1 or equivalent) are required. Two theory modules give the Niveau 2 more classroom weight than the entry-level courses. Maud and Rémi handle the full programme. From Niveau 2, the path continues to PA40 (autonomous depth to 40m, requiring 20 logged dives) and ultimately to Niveau 3, which opens the 60m zone and the deepest sites in the Cap Corse area.
Formation Secourisme RIFAP
The RIFAP is a mandatory first-aid certification in the FFESSM system and a prerequisite for the Niveau 3 at Corsica Sub. It covers the emergency procedures specific to diving accidents — not generic first aid, but the actions required during and immediately after a dive incident. Training includes hands-on work with a resuscitation mannequin, a defibrillator, and oxygen therapy equipment. The course runs over two half-days: one dive session and one classroom module. The price is 110€ including certification. Minimum age is 16; minors need parental consent. A medical certificate of no contraindication to diving is required. The RIFAP can be completed independently of other courses and is often done in preparation for Niveau 3 training.
Formation Niveau 4
The Niveau 4 is the first instructor-level qualification in the FFESSM system and is run by Corsica Sub as a preparation programme for the official exam. It targets Niveau 3 holders who want to become dive guides, and the training covers technical dives designed to prepare candidates for the exam as well as a theory revision component. Corsica Sub runs this programme between October and May only — six days of training followed by a two-day exam period. Pricing is on request. The minimum age is 18, and a current Niveau 3 certification plus a medical certificate of no contraindication are required. Given the seasonal window, interested divers should contact the centre well in advance to check availability and planning.
Apnée – Découverte
The apnée initiation at Corsica Sub introduces freediving technique in the Cap Corse Marine Park waters, departing from the old port of Bastia on the Napadelis. The session runs two hours at sea and covers the safety rules specific to breath-hold diving, the basic physiological principles of apnea, and the practical techniques for a first immersion. Maud or Rémi leads the briefing from arrival and accompanies the group throughout. The 65€ price covers the full session including equipment. No prior freediving experience is required. For those who want to continue, the centre offers the perfectionnement sessions (50€ per session or 145€ for three), which build on the initiation with more structured work on immersion, kick, and ventilation.
Apnée – Perfectionnement
The apnée perfectionnement sessions at Corsica Sub are aimed at occasional freedivers and spearfishers who want to improve their technique rather than start from scratch. Each session works across several exercises: immersion technique, fin kick efficiency, ventilation, and compensation. Static apnea and relaxation sessions can be arranged on request, subject to group size. A single session costs 50€; a card of three sessions costs 145€. Sessions take place in the Cap Corse Marine Park from the Napadelis. Formats include free immersion, constant weight, and variable weight work. For those who want to pursue freediving more formally, the centre can provide information on structured training programmes beyond the session format — pricing is on request.
