Scuba Diver
The Scuba Diver course is designed for individuals who have limited time but still wish to become certified divers. This program allows participants to experience the underwater world and gain certification without the full time commitment of the Open Water Diver course. Certified Scuba Divers can explore the same dive sites as Open Water Divers, but they must always be accompanied by a dive instructor. It's a stepping stone, and divers have the option to upgrade to the full Open Water Diver certification at any point. The course structure includes dedicated time for classroom learning or e-learning, followed by practical dive sessions. For those opting for classroom instruction, the schedule typically spans two days, with the first day covering classroom and initial dives, and the second day focusing on further dives. The e-learning option streamlines the theoretical part, allowing for more time dedicated to the practical in-water training and dives. During the course, participants will engage in essential skills development, learning how to manage their equipment and navigate underwater safely under instructor supervision. The practical dives are conducted in environments that allow for skill refinement and the enjoyment of marine life, preparing divers for future guided adventures. The focus is on building confidence and competence in a controlled setting. Horizon Divers provides all the basic equipment needed for the course, ensuring that students have access to quality gear for their training. This includes masks, fins, snorkels, BCDs, regulators, dive computers, and wetsuits. This provision allows students to focus on learning the skills without the added expense or logistics of purchasing their own equipment for the initial certification. This course is an excellent option for vacationers or anyone with a tight schedule who wants to gain scuba diving certification. It provides a solid foundation in diving principles and practices, opening the door to further underwater exploration and potentially more advanced diving certifications in the future.
Refresher Course
For divers who haven't been in the water for a while, Horizon Divers strongly recommends a refresher course to ensure their skills remain sharp and their diving practices are safe. The Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) indicates that a significant number of divers could benefit from such a course, especially if it has been two years or more since their last dive. This course is designed to reacquaint divers with essential scuba skills and procedures. It typically involves two main components: an online portion where divers can review theoretical material at their own pace, and a practical in-water session. The goal is to build confidence and ensure proficiency in handling equipment, buoyancy control, and emergency procedures. By revisiting the fundamentals, divers can ensure they are diving to the best of their abilities. This is crucial for both personal safety and enjoyment of the underwater environment. The refresher course helps to reinforce good habits and address any potential skill degradation that may occur over time. Horizon Divers encourages all divers, regardless of their certification level, to consider taking a refresher course periodically. It's a proactive approach to maintaining diving competence and enjoying the sport responsibly. The course provides a valuable opportunity to practice and refine techniques under the guidance of experienced instructors. This program is particularly beneficial for those planning dives in new locations or preparing for more challenging dives. It ensures that divers are mentally and practically prepared, allowing them to fully appreciate the beauty and excitement of the underwater world.
