The PADI Self-Reliant Diver Specialty course at Aqua Vision is designed to enhance your self-sufficiency and preparedness underwater. This specialty builds upon your existing diving skills, focusing on advanced safety and self-rescue techniques. You will learn to manage your air supply effectively, accurately determine your gas consumption rate, and plan dives considering cylinder size and pressure. This course emphasizes a high level of proficiency in fundamental scuba abilities, such as buoyancy control, to ensure you can handle potential issues independently if your buddy cannot assist.

To enroll in this specialty, you must hold an Advanced Open Water Diver certification or higher and have logged a minimum of 100 dives. Participants must also be at least 18 years old and undergo a skills assessment to demonstrate proficiency in basic scuba skills. The course mandates the use of an alternative air supply, such as a pony bottle, and specific redundant equipment, including a reel for lift bags or surface marker buoys. This ensures you are equipped for the advanced scenarios covered.

Certification involves completing several skills during three open water dives, complemented by a Knowledge Review session following instructor presentations and discussions. While reinforcing the importance of the buddy system, the course equips you with the confidence and skills to manage emergencies independently. Aqua Vision includes three ocean dives, scuba equipment hire, and lunch, fresh fruit, and bottled drinking water on dive trips as part of the course package.
