Advanced Open Water

The Advanced Open Water Diver course at Mid Atlantic Scuba Center builds upon your foundational skills, preparing you for deeper dives and new underwater challenges. This program includes five open water dives, with a maximum depth typically reaching 30 meters (100 feet), allowing you to explore beyond recreational limits. You will gain practical experience in specialized areas such as deep diving, underwater navigation, and buoyancy control, guided by certified PADI or SSI instructors. The curriculum is designed to enhance your confidence and competence in various diving conditions, making you a more capable and versatile diver. Each dive is carefully planned to maximize learning and enjoyment within safe parameters.

While specific dive site details are best discussed directly with the center, the Mid Atlantic region offers diverse underwater environments. Visibility can vary, often ranging from 10 to 20 meters (30 to 60 feet), depending on seasonal conditions and water currents. Water temperatures fluctuate throughout the year, generally ranging from cooler temperatures in the winter months to more moderate levels in the summer, suggesting appropriate thermal protection is necessary. The local marine life and underwater topography provide excellent opportunities to practice and refine the skills learned in the Advanced Open Water Diver course, offering a rich backdrop for your continued dive education.
