Course Description

The PADI Open Water Diver course at Divexplore is your official entry into the world of scuba diving, providing the foundational knowledge and skills for safe exploration up to 18 meters (60 feet). This comprehensive program begins with PADI eLearning, covering essential diving theory, equipment familiarization, safety protocols, and dive planning through interactive videos and knowledge reviews. You will then progress to confined water sessions, typically in a pool environment, where you'll practice fundamental skills like buoyancy control, mask clearing, and emergency procedures under direct instructor supervision. This hands-on approach ensures you are comfortable and proficient with your scuba gear and basic techniques before venturing into open water.

The practical component of your training involves four open water dives conducted at renowned sites such as Cromhall Quarry or potentially in West Wales, depending on prevailing weather conditions. These dives allow you to apply the skills learned in a real diving environment, demonstrating your competence in areas like buoyancy and emergency ascents. Throughout the course, your progress is continuously assessed by your instructor to ensure you meet the PADI standards for certification. Upon successful completion, you will earn your PADI Open Water Diver certification, recognized globally and enabling you to dive with a buddy in conditions similar to those experienced during your training.

This certification is the first step towards a lifetime of underwater adventure and is a prerequisite for more advanced PADI courses. The course is structured to be completed over approximately one month, integrating self-paced eLearning with dedicated pool sessions and two days of open water dives. To enroll, you must be at least 10 years old, able to swim 200 meters (or 300 meters with mask, fins, and snorkel), and capable of treading water for 10 minutes. A medical fitness to dive is also required.

The course fee of £600 at Divexplore includes your PADI eLearning materials, all theory instruction, expert guidance from certified instructors, your PADI eCertification card, full hire of scuba equipment, air fills for your dives, access to pool sessions, and the open water dives themselves. Please note that entry fees for open water sites, transportation to dive locations, accommodation, and meals are not included in the course price. Divexplore's experienced team is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable learning experience, ensuring you gain the confidence and skills needed to explore the underwater realm.
