Course Description
The PADI Open Water Diver certification is your essential first step into the global underwater community, and Oyster Diving offers this foundational course with a strong commitment to safety and personalized instruction. As a PADI 5-star IDC center, they provide the most popular and recognized scuba certification worldwide. This course is structured into two key phases: theoretical knowledge development, which can be completed online in approximately 10-12 hours, followed by practical pool sessions. These pool sessions are crucial for mastering fundamental scuba skills under the direct supervision of professional PADI instructors in heated pools across six convenient locations.
Following the pool training, you will progress to Part B, which involves four open water dives conducted over two days. These dives take place at Mercers Lake, Oyster Diving's exclusive freshwater training site located near London. This site is specifically chosen for its clear water conditions and a maximum depth of 15 meters, creating an ideal and controlled environment to apply the skills you've learned. Upon successful completion, you will be certified to dive independently with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters, a qualification valid for life and your passport to explore dive sites across the globe.
Oyster Diving distinguishes itself through its dedication to small group sizes, ensuring a maximum of 6 students per instructor. This low ratio allows for focused, individual attention, helping you build confidence and proficiency at your own pace. They also offer an optional 'Pass Guarantee' upgrade, providing peace of mind and additional training support if needed. The course requires participants to be at least 10 years old, in reasonable health, and comfortable in the water, with a prerequisite of swimming 200 meters and being able to float or tread water for 10 minutes.
This PADI Open Water Diver certification from Oyster Diving unlocks a world of possibilities, enabling you to rent scuba equipment, join guided diving excursions, and continue your education with advanced courses. The comprehensive nature of the training, combined with the expertise of their instructors and the quality of equipment provided, including your logbook and certification processing, makes this an excellent choice for anyone looking to begin their scuba diving adventure. The course fee is £350, covering all essential elements for your certification.
