Discover Scuba Diving
Offered by Horizon Divers
Key Largo, FL
Course Description
The Discover Scuba Diving program at Horizon Divers is designed for individuals who are curious about scuba diving but not yet ready to commit to a full certification course, or for those visiting Key Largo with only a day or two to spare. This one-day experience offers a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of diving without the extensive time and commitment required for Open Water certification. It's the perfect introduction to the underwater realm.
The day begins at the dive shop, where participants will complete necessary paperwork, attend a classroom session covering basic diving principles, and get fitted for their gear. Following the initial briefing, the group moves to a pool environment for a couple of hours of underwater practice. This controlled setting allows students to become comfortable with their equipment and breathing underwater under the direct supervision of their instructor.
After mastering the basics in the pool, participants, now feeling more confident, head to the dock for two afternoon dives on a coral reef. These dives provide a chance to experience the real underwater environment, observe marine life, and practice the skills learned earlier. A lunch break is typically incorporated between the pool session and the open water dives.
Horizon Divers provides all the essential basic equipment for this experience. This includes masks, fins, snorkels, BCDs, regulators, dive computers, and wetsuits, ensuring that participants have everything they need to safely enjoy their first dives. The focus is on providing a safe, fun, and memorable introduction to scuba diving.
This program is ideal for anyone wanting to try scuba diving. It offers a glimpse into the world beneath the waves, providing a thrilling and humbling experience. Participants leave with a newfound appreciation for marine ecosystems and the possibility of pursuing full certification in the future.
