PADI Drysuit Diver
Offered by Ocean View Diving
Lancing, England
Course Description
The PADI Drysuit Diver specialty course at Ocean View Diving is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to dive comfortably and safely in cooler waters. This certification is particularly relevant for diving in the UK, where water temperatures can be significantly lower than in tropical regions. The course typically involves knowledge development sessions covering drysuit operation, buoyancy control with a drysuit, and emergency procedures. Practical training includes at least two open water dives, conducted at local dive sites accessible from our base. During these dives, you will practice essential skills such as donning and doffing your drysuit in the water, managing buoyancy effectively, and handling potential in-water issues specific to drysuit diving. Ocean View Diving, a PADI-certified center, ensures all training adheres to PADI standards, leading to your PADI Drysuit Diver certification upon successful completion. Our instructors are experienced in teaching drysuit techniques, ensuring a thorough understanding of this vital specialty.
While specific monthly water temperature data for the immediate diving locations is not provided, the necessity of a drysuit specialty course strongly indicates that local waters frequently drop to temperatures requiring thermal protection beyond a standard wetsuit. This typically means temperatures can range from around 4°C (39°F) in winter to 15°C (59°F) in summer, making a drysuit essential for extended comfort and safety throughout the year. Diving in these conditions often presents good visibility, though this can vary with weather patterns and seasons. The underwater topography in the UK typically features rocky reefs, kelp forests, and sandy bottoms, supporting a diverse range of marine life including various fish species, crustaceans, and occasional larger marine mammals. Ocean View Diving, operating in the UK, offers this course in English and German, catering to a broader range of divers.
