Course Description

The AIDA Beginner Freediver Course at Bluewater Freediving is your entry point into the serene world of breath-hold diving. This foundational program is meticulously designed for individuals already comfortable in the water, aiming to equip them with the essential knowledge and practical skills for recreational freediving. You will cover static apnea, dynamic apnea, and constant weight disciplines, learning crucial safety procedures and techniques for diving with or without a guideline. The course emphasizes understanding potential hazards and natural risks while prioritizing enjoyment and safe practice. Instructors focus on building your confidence and competence, preparing you to safely plan and participate in freediving activities.

Preparation begins with self-study of AIDA theory materials and online exams, allowing you to maximize your in-water experience during the weekend sessions. Practical components include pool or confined water sessions to hone your initial skills and safety protocols, followed by open water dives in a natural environment. The goal is to have you diving to depths of up to 20 meters in a relaxed and controlled manner by the end of the course. You will receive lifetime access to updated AIDA theory materials, ensuring your knowledge remains current. The course typically spans 2.5 days and includes approximately 5 dives, with the specific dive site determined on the day based on conditions.

Bluewater Freediving maintains a maximum student-to-instructor ratio of 4:1, ensuring you receive personalized attention and thorough guidance throughout your training. This low ratio allows instructors to closely monitor your progress and provide tailored feedback on your technique and safety awareness. The center offers instruction in German, English, French, Italian, and Portuguese, catering to a diverse range of international students. This commitment to accessibility ensures a welcoming environment for all aspiring freedivers.

While specific monthly climate data for the immediate dive location isn't provided, the general UK climate suggests cooler water temperatures for much of the year. For instance, average air temperatures range from 4.7°C in January to 18.1°C in August. This means that during cooler months, participants will likely need thicker wetsuits, which are often available for rent or included in the course package. The focus on safety and proper technique remains paramount regardless of external conditions, ensuring a valuable learning experience.
