Open Water Diver
Offered by East Coast Divers
Prospect, Kentucky
Course Description
East Coast Divers offers the foundational Open Water Diver course, designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to become certified divers. This course is structured to build confidence and competence, starting with theoretical knowledge and progressing to practical application in a controlled environment. The program emphasizes ECD's 'Training in Neutral' methodology, ensuring divers develop strong habits for buoyancy control and underwater navigation from the outset.
The initial phase of the Open Water Diver course typically involves classroom sessions and pool training. In the classroom, students learn about dive physics, physiology, equipment, planning, and safety procedures. ECD's instructors focus on making this information accessible and relevant, preparing students for the practical aspects of diving. The pool sessions are crucial for mastering essential skills, such as mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, and emergency ascents, all performed while maintaining neutral buoyancy.
ECD's commitment to developing excellent, safe divers is evident in their training approach. They ensure that students not only learn the required skills but also develop the comfort and confidence to use them effectively. This hands-on training in a pool environment allows for repetition and refinement of techniques under the watchful eye of experienced instructors. The goal is to create divers who are not just certified but are also proficient and at ease underwater.
Upon completion of the pool and classroom portions, students move on to the open water dives to finalize their certification. East Coast Divers provides a solid foundation, preparing students thoroughly for these crucial final dives. The emphasis on good habits and neutral buoyancy means that graduates are often praised for their preparedness and skill level when they continue their diving adventures.
