Course Description
Expand your underwater horizons with the SSI Specialty Decompression Diving course offered by Aquasport Diving Lanzarote. This technically focused program is meticulously designed for recreational divers looking to safely extend their bottom time beyond standard no-decompression limits. You will acquire the essential skills to plan and execute dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters, utilizing a dedicated decompression cylinder for controlled and accelerated ascents. The program thoroughly covers the advanced functions of your dive computer, including critical gas-switching strategies and reserve time management, ensuring your ascents and surface intervals are both safe and efficient. Mastering these decompression techniques is fundamental for exploring deeper wrecks and reefs, significantly broadening your diving possibilities.
The waters of Lanzarote provide a consistently welcoming environment for this advanced training. The sea temperature averages a comfortable 20.2 °C year-round, with monthly air temperatures ranging from a pleasant 19.4 °C in January to a warmer 24.2 °C in August, according to available climate data. This stable thermal condition, coupled with the good visibility generally typical of the Canary Islands, offers an ideal setting for practicing complex decompression profiles. The island's volcanic nature creates a unique underwater topography, featuring dramatic drop-offs and fascinating geological formations, perfect for applying your newfound decompression skills.
Aquasport Diving Lanzarote, an SSI-certified training facility, ensures a high standard of instruction. The center is equipped to support your technical diving education, with instructors fluent in English, Spanish, and French, catering to a diverse international clientele. While specific details on dive boats or instructor-to-student ratios are not provided, the center's affiliation with SSI reflects a commitment to standardized, safe, and effective diver training. This specialty course is a pivotal step for those aspiring to delve into the realm of technical diving, providing a solid theoretical and practical foundation.
To enroll in the Specialty Decompression Diving course, divers typically require Advanced Open Water Diver certification or its equivalent, demonstrating a foundational understanding of deep diving principles. Although your instructor will detail specific equipment needs beyond standard scuba gear, expect the use of specialized deco cylinders and possibly advanced dive computers. The course emphasizes a hands-on approach, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application during open water dives. Upon successful completion, you will be recognized as an SSI Decompression Diver, unlocking access to more demanding and rewarding dive sites previously inaccessible within recreational limits.
