Course Description

The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver recognition rating represents a significant progression for certified divers, building upon foundational skills to explore new underwater frontiers. This rating is achieved by completing four SSI Specialty programs tailored to your interests, alongside logging a total of 24 open water dives. Upon successful completion, you automatically receive the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver recognition, in addition to your individual SSI Specialty program certifications. Hippocampus Diving Center, a SSI-certified facility, offers a diverse array of Specialty courses that can contribute towards this rating, allowing you to customize your advanced training to your specific interests and goals. This program is designed to broaden your experience and skills by encouraging exploration of different diving types and environments.

This advanced certification opens doors to deeper exploration, with the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver standard typically allowing for dives up to 30 meters. The course emphasizes practical application, requiring a minimum of 24 logged dives to ensure you have sufficient experience to handle more advanced diving situations. By choosing specialties such as wreck diving, deep diving, navigation, or underwater photography, you can tailor your advanced training to focus on areas that genuinely excite you. Achieving this rating signifies a higher level of diving competence and experience, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and skill development.

While specific dive site details for the advanced training are not provided, the Croatian coast, where Hippocampus Diving Center operates, is renowned for its clear waters and rich marine life. The sea temperature in the region varies significantly throughout the year, ranging from approximately 7.4°C in January to a peak of 28.1°C in August. This variability means that depending on the month of your training, you might experience conditions suitable for drysuit diving in cooler periods or comfortable immersion in wetsuits during warmer months. The center is certified by multiple agencies including CMAS, NAUI, PADI, and SSI, indicating a broad scope of training capabilities.

Hippocampus Diving Center supports multilingual training, offering courses in German, English, French, Croatian, and Italian. This diverse language support ensures that a wider range of international divers can access their training programs comfortably. The center's commitment to providing comprehensive training is reflected in its ability to cater to various linguistic backgrounds, making advanced diver education accessible and engaging for everyone. This focus on clear communication is vital for mastering the advanced techniques and safety protocols required for deeper and more complex dives.
