Course Description
The PADI Open Water Diver (OWD) certification, offered by The Submersibles, is your official passport to exploring the underwater world. This foundational course is meticulously designed for beginners, equipping you with the essential knowledge and practical skills to safely and confidently dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters. Upon successful completion, you will hold a globally recognized certification, opening doors to countless dive sites across the planet. The program structure thoughtfully blends theoretical learning, often facilitated through PADI eLearning, with hands-on practical sessions.
Your journey begins with confined water dives, typically conducted in a pool environment. Here, you will master fundamental skills such as buoyancy control, mask clearing, and regulator recovery. These controlled sessions are vital for building confidence and refining techniques before you venture into open water. Following this crucial phase, you will complete four open water dives over two days. These dives are where you'll apply your newly acquired abilities in real-world conditions, exploring natural underwater environments and experiencing the thrill of diving.
The Submersibles ensures a high level of safety and personalized learning by maintaining small group sizes, allowing instructors to provide extra attention to each student. The typical duration for the PADI Open Water Diver course is 4-5 days, providing ample time for thorough skill development and knowledge consolidation. Key prerequisites for participation include being at least 10 years old, demonstrating the ability to swim 200 meters (or 300 meters with mask, fins, and snorkel), and the capacity to float for 10 minutes. All essential diving equipment, including mask, fins, BCD, regulator, weights, and scuba cylinder, is provided by the center.
This certification is the essential first step for anyone aspiring to pursue further diving education, including advanced courses and specialized training. The Submersibles fosters a supportive learning atmosphere, dedicated to ensuring students feel comfortable and capable throughout their training. For those with limited time or specific travel plans, they also offer the flexibility of a referral course. This option allows students to complete their theory and pool training in Singapore and then finish their open water dives at another location, offering a convenient pathway to certification.
