Curso Open Water Diver

Hidrospot's Open Water Diver is the full SSI certification programme — 6 theory sessions, 6 pool sessions, and 4 open water dives in the Atlantic off Porto and Gaia. The price of €460 includes equipment, insurance, all the dives, and the SSI certification itself, so there are no hidden extras to account for.

Six pool sessions before the sea dives is more pool time than many centres offer, and it shows in how prepared students are when they hit open water. The Portuguese coast isn't forgiving — currents, visibility changes, and cooler temperatures are part of the picture — and the structured pool phase builds the muscle memory that matters when conditions aren't ideal.

The certification is ISO 24801-2 compliant and recognised internationally. Once certified, you can dive independently to 18 metres worldwide. Several Hidrospot instructors hold multiple specialty instructor ratings alongside their Open Water Instructor credentials, which means the teaching quality during the course draws on a broader range of diving experience than you'd get from a centre with purely recreational staff.

Hidrspot has been at this since 2010 and is licensed by IPDJ I.P. The Open Water Diver is the course most people who walk through the door are aiming for, and the centre's track record in delivering it is what 16 years of operation in the same location tends to produce.
