Try Scuba

The Try Scuba is Hidrospot's entry point — a single pool session that gets you breathing underwater without any commitment to a certification programme. Porto isn't tropical diving, but that first breath from a regulator is the same wherever you are, and doing it in a controlled pool environment with an SSI instructor makes the experience straightforward. The session is run at the centre's pool facilities, and you come out with the SSI Try Scuba recognition level.

For most people who do this, the real question is what comes next. If you decide to continue within six months, the pool session can be credited toward the Basic Diver or Scuba Diver programmes. It's a low-risk way to figure out whether you want to go further.

The programme is aimed at anyone curious about diving who isn't ready to block out the time a full course requires. No prior experience needed, just the ability to get in a pool.

Instructors hold React Right and oxygen administration certifications — standard across all Hidrospot staff — so the safety baseline is there even for a one-off introductory session.
