About the Center

Tauchcenter mc-divers, located in Hösbach, is a dive center certified by PADI, SSI, CMAS/FFESSM, and TDI. It offers a comprehensive range of courses, from Discover Scuba Diving to the Instructor Development Course, including specialties such as Boat Diving, Deep Diver, and Wreck Diver. Facilities include lockers, WiFi, a bar, accommodation, equipment rental, a dive shop, and air fills (including nitrox).

The center organizes boat diving, shore diving, and night diving activities, as well as guided dives. Its website highlights events like an outing to Dive4Life where participants reached depths of up to 20 meters and enjoyed communal meals. Upcoming courses are also announced for monte mare Obertshausen, featuring Try Out, Open Water Diver, Dry Suit, and Underwater Photography.

For 2026, Tauchcenter mc-divers plans a full schedule with regular day trips every second Sunday of the month throughout the year, and additional weekend trips from early summer to autumn. Highlight destinations include Hemmoor (Germany), Panheel (Netherlands), and Tauchercamp Schwarzwald (Germany). Detailed schedules and registrations are expected soon.

The center also reflects the success of its events, such as a dive day at Dive4Life with 23 participants, where courses like SSI Scuba Diver and "Perfect Buoyancy" specialties were successfully completed, leading to a great atmosphere and learning achievements. New photos from 2025 are now available on their website, inviting visitors to explore unforgettable underwater adventure moments.

Curso Open Water Diver

The SSI Open Water Diver at MC-Divers runs in two phases: five pool sessions at Montemare Obertshausen or Freibad Rottenberg, followed by four open-water dives at a lake spread over at least two days. Theory is delivered via SSI e-Learning, which you work through at home before the pool sessions start. Pool meetings happen on Saturdays from 18:15 at Montemare or Wednesdays at Rottenberg. The pool depth of 2.2 metres means every skill — mask clearing, buoyancy, regulator recovery — gets practised close to the bottom without any real depth pressure involved. It is a controlled environment and the team has been running these sessions for over 15 years. The open-water portion takes place at a lake, certifying you to dive to 18 metres worldwide. The four dives cover the same skills as the pool phase, now applied in actual open water. These can be completed within a weekend trip if preferred, though any external costs (entry fees, permits) are charged separately. The course takes roughly four weeks at the standard pace, though the centre can adapt the timeline if you have specific scheduling needs. Certification is through SSI and is valid for life with no expiry. Required equipment not included in the course price: mask, snorkel and fins suitable for scuba diving, plus a valid dive medical certificate before the open-water dives. Prescription masks and specific fins can be sourced through the shop.

Curso Divemaster

The SSI Dive Guide course at MC-Divers is the entry point to the professional track within the SSI system. The centre offers it both for sport divers who want to plan and lead dives for their own group, and for those aiming at a career in the dive industry. Both tracks use the same course — the distinction is whether you register as SSI DivePro at the end. For sport divers, the practical focus is on dive planning, briefings and debriefings, and running safe dives for friends and colleagues. For those going professional, completing this course alongside SSI Specialty Science of Diving automatically qualifies for SSI Divemaster status, which allows working as a certified assistant in beginner and advanced courses. The course runs in German. Verbands-Registrierungskosten (association registration fees) of €70 are charged separately, as is course material depending on what you select. The base course price is €550. Prerequisites are substantial: SSI Stress & Rescue Diver or equivalent, logged experience in navigation, night diving and deep diving (or at least 5 logged confirmed dives in each), a minimum of 40 logged dives with at least 25 hours total bottom time at course start, a dive medical not older than 12 months, and full personal equipment (rental possible). Minimum age is 18.

Curso Deep Diver

MC-Divers runs the Deep Diver specialty strictly 1:1 — one instructor per student. That is not the norm for specialty courses and it reflects the seriousness they attach to diving between 18 and 30 metres, where a small problem can escalate quickly. Three open-water dives are planned, usually completed in a single long day. The dives step progressively deeper, and the day often runs into the evening given the extended surface intervals required at those depths. You start with e-Learning theory at home covering the specifics of depth: gas consumption, narcosis, decompression planning and emergency procedures. The equipment included is more extensive than most specialty courses: an underwater torch and backup, plus a separate cold-water-rated first stage — reflecting the kind of kit the centre considers appropriate for this depth range. Your own ABC (mask, snorkel, fins) is excluded, as with all their open-water courses. Prerequisite is at minimum the SSI Referral Diver or equivalent brevet, plus a valid dive medical. Minimum age is 15. External costs such as site entry fees or accommodation are not included in the course price.

Curso Wreck Diver

The Wreck Diver specialty at MC-Divers opens up access to the wreck diving the centre mentions in its Deep Diver course — sunken ships and aircraft in the Mediterranean and Red Sea that sit in depths requiring proper training before entry. The course is also positioned as a logical follow-on for divers who already did a wreck adventure dive during the SSI AOWD programme. Two open-water dives in the Freiwasser are included, under professional supervision throughout. Wreck penetration during training is limited to the daylight zone and a maximum of 40 metres from the surface (vertical and horizontal combined) — within recreational limits. If the training wreck sits deeper than 18 metres, the SSI Deep Diver certification is recommended as a prerequisite. Equipment included follows the same pattern as the Night Diver course: full kit except mask, snorkel and fins. Specialty equipment such as lift bags, guide lines and torches is provided. Drysuit and dive computer are excluded. Own ABC can be hired for €35. Minimum age is 10 years, prerequisite is SSI Referral Diver or equivalent, and a valid dive medical is required. External costs like site fees and permits are not covered by the course price.

Try Out (Schnuppertauchen)

The Try Out runs in the pool at Montemare Obertshausen or Freibad Rottenberg — the same water the centre uses for all its beginner training. You get a theory session first covering pressure equalisation, how the equipment works and how to move underwater, then one pool dive with a Divemaster or Instructor in the water with you the whole time. The pool goes to 2.2 metres, which is enough to get a real sense of breathing underwater with a regulator and feeling neutral without fighting the surface. It is not a snorkel session — you go down with proper scuba kit and experience what that actually feels like. If you decide to continue with a full course within 12 months, the theory and pool session from the Try Out count toward the Open Water Diver or Scuba Diver programme, and the €75 is deducted from the course fee. It is a low-commitment way to find out whether diving is for you before paying for a full certification. Minimum age is 10 years. The price includes the pool dive with complete equipment — no extras needed from you on the day.

SSI Night & Limited Visibility Diver

Night diving in the lakes of the Untermain region is a different experience from tropical night dives — quieter, darker, and with fauna that rewards patient observers. The centre describes watching pike hunting at dusk as one of the draws of this course in home waters. The two open-water dives start at dusk and run into full darkness, which means the course is planned as a single evening session. Theory is covered via e-Learning before the first dive. The practical side includes entering the water at last light, primary torch use, backup torch handling when the main light fails — which they simulate deliberately — and safe night exit procedures. Coordination with your buddy in the dark is a specific focus. Specialty equipment for the course (lift bags, obstacles, torches) is provided at no extra cost. Drysuit and dive computer are explicitly excluded from the included kit. Own ABC gear is required, though it can be hired separately for €35 for the course. Prerequisite is SSI Referral Diver or equivalent from any recognised agency. Minimum age is 10 years. A valid dive medical certificate is required before the open-water dives. Site entry fees and parking costs are charged separately.

SSI Navigation Specialty

Navigation is one of those skills that separates divers who follow a guide from divers who can lead themselves back to the exit. MC-Divers offers this specialty as part of the broader AOWD programme or as a standalone course, with two open-water dives at depths between 5 and 30 metres, usually completed on a single weekend day. Theory is via e-Learning before the in-water sessions. The practical dives cover compass use, natural navigation cues, distance estimation, leaving a point and returning to it, and combining navigation methods on a single dive. A loan compass is provided where needed. Full equipment is included in the price except for mask, snorkel and fins. Certification costs are included. External expenses — site fees, external tank fills, accommodation — are billed separately. Minimum age is 10 years and a minimum of SSI Referral Diver or equivalent is required. A valid dive medical certificate is needed before the open-water dives.
