About the Center

Established in 2014 by a local Thai family, Koh Tao Scuba Club offers a comprehensive range of scuba diving adventures and courses for beginners to professionals, available all year long. Certified by PADI, SSI, and TDI, the center caters to all levels, from Discover Scuba Diving to the Instructor Development Course, with specializations in technical and boat diving.

The facilities at Koh Tao Scuba Club include showers, lockers, a restaurant and bar, accommodation, a swimming pool, and equipment rental. They also feature a dive shop, air fills (including nitrox), and offer both boat and shore diving options. Located in Koh Tao, Surat Thani, THA, the dive center is conveniently situated just 150 meters from the pier, making airport transfers seamless.

Their team of highly experienced and friendly instructors are proficient in English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, and Catalan, ensuring a fun, educational, and inspiring diving experience for a diverse international clientele. The club prides itself on offering exceptional value dive packages that are inclusive of a guide, food, equipment, insurance, pick-up services, and even accommodation.

With access to over 25 dive sites around Koh Tao, the center operates its own boat and organizes up to 5 dives per day. They provide a safe environment for learning to scuba dive, with options such as a 3-day Open Water Diver certification course for 9,500 THB and 'a la carte' fun dives starting from 900 THB. The center emphasizes a personalized and unforgettable experience, having certified over 10,000 divers from more than 30 nationalities.

Open Water Diver

The three-day Open Water course at Koh Tao Scuba Club certifies you to dive to 18 meters anywhere in the world through SSI. It's built around four hours of theory, one pool session, four ocean dives, and a final written exam — a structured progression that gets you in open water by day two. Day one covers classroom theory in the morning, then the pool session in the afternoon at the center. The pool work is done in a controlled environment before you head to the ocean, so by the time you do your first open-water dive on day two you've already run through the key skills. Days two and three take you to different Koh Tao dive sites each time — the center doesn't repeat sites within the same course. The third day is the earliest departure: pick-up at 06:30, on the boat by 07:00, two morning dives, back to the school for lunch and the final exam. By 13:00 you're certified. Alumni who come back for the Advanced Adventurer program get 500 THB off. All-inclusive at 9,500 THB: instructor, equipment, theoretical materials, insurance, SSI exam fee, international certification, daily snacks, refreshments, coffee, fresh fruit, free snorkel gear use, pick-up and drop-off, and a Koh Tao Scuba Club T-shirt. Package options with two or three nights' dorm accommodation at partner hostels in Mae Haad are also available. The course is available in English, Thai, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Swedish, and Russian — request your language in advance.

Advanced Open Water

The Advanced Adventurer program at Koh Tao Scuba Club runs over two days and includes five specialty dives. Based on the course materials and imagery, dives include a night dive and a dive at the HTMS Sattakut shipwreck — a real wreck site accessible from Koh Tao. The five-dive structure gives you a mix of environments and skills rather than repeating the same type of dive. The program is priced at 9,000 THB and takes you to depths of up to 30 meters, compared to the 18-meter limit of the Open Water. That increase opens up a different tier of sites around the island. Alumni of the Open Water course done at Koh Tao Scuba Club get 500 THB off the package price. Nitrox tanks appear in the course imagery, suggesting enriched air is part of the specialty dive mix — though you'd need to confirm the exact specialty list when booking. The center runs all courses daily with instructors across multiple languages, so scheduling is flexible. The course is available in English, Thai, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Swedish, and Russian. As with all courses at the center, pick-up and drop-off from accommodation across the island is arranged.

Divemaster

The Divemaster program at Koh Tao Scuba Club is the entry point into professional diving — the first level where you're qualified to lead certified divers and assist instructors. The center runs it from their base in Mae Haad, 150 meters from the pier, with access to 25 dive sites around the island. The blog references a divemaster internship program, and a post written from the perspective of a newly certified Divemaster Trainer named Riccardo suggests the center has an active professional development pipeline. Working with a team that has certified over 10,000 divers across 10+ years means the training environment is high-volume and varied in terms of student types and conditions. Koh Tao's year-round operation means there's no dead season for logging the dives and assisting hours required for the rating. The island's 25 sites include open water, pinnacles, and wrecks — the kind of range that makes divemaster training more interesting than a single-environment site. Contact the center directly for pricing, duration, and current availability. Instruction is available across multiple languages including English, Thai, French, and Spanish.

Instructor Development Course

Koh Tao Scuba Club offers the SSI Instructor Training Course, taking qualified Divemasters through the full instructor certification process. The center's own teaching staff includes a Divemaster Trainer, as referenced in their blog, which means the ITC is run in-house rather than outsourced to a visiting course director. Koh Tao is one of the more active locations in Southeast Asia for instructor training — the volume of students passing through the island provides the kind of varied teaching practice that shapes a more capable instructor. The center has certified over 10,000 divers since 2014, giving instructor candidates real-world exposure to students of different nationalities, language backgrounds, and experience levels. The center's multilingual setup — English, Thai, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Swedish, Russian — is an asset for instructor candidates who expect to teach international clientele. Contact the center directly for current ITC dates, prerequisites, and pricing.

Try Scuba Program

The entry point at Koh Tao Scuba Club is a one-day, two-dive program that runs daily throughout the year. The morning starts at 10:30 with registration, a medical form, and a classroom session covering the basics — signals, breathing, buoyancy control. Then lunch, and into the water. The first dive is skill-focused: exercises and comfort-building in shallow water. The second dive is at a separate site, to a maximum depth of 12 meters, with no training — just swimming alongside the instructor and seeing what's down there. The two-dive structure means you get a proper look at Koh Tao's underwater terrain, not just a controlled pool exercise. Everything is included in the 3,000 THB price: instructor, equipment, insurance, refreshments, fresh fruit, coffee, and pick-up and drop-off from your accommodation across the island. No hidden extras. The program is available in English, Thai, French, Spanish, Dutch, and German — request your language when booking. The center also offers a flexible refund option: you can start with just one dive, decide on the spot whether you want the second, and get a refund on the unused dive if you don't continue. That kind of policy is uncommon and worth noting for nervous first-timers.
