About the Center
Pro Scuba Dive Center, located in Lower Valley, CYM, is a dive center operated by David and Cheryl, who collectively possess over fifty years of expert SCUBA diving practice and ten years of experience running their popular SCUBA training and retail business in California. They are certified by both SSI and NAUI, with David being a NAUI Course Director and Cheryl a NAUI Dive Master.
The center offers a range of advanced courses for divers, including Advanced Open Water, Enriched Air Nitrox, and Instructor Development Course. Furthermore, they organize international SCUBA adventures for all levels of divers, designed to be both exciting and affordable, and which can also be enjoyed by non-diving partners. Two fundamental rules are insisted upon for those who travel with them: first, that they are a safe diver, and second, that they play well with others.
Pro Scuba Dive Center distinguishes itself through its dedication to comprehensive trip planning, seeking out the best SCUBA packages to create quality trips. David and Cheryl personally lead all trips, handling the behind-the-scenes work and negotiating any issues with resorts and dive shops, allowing clients to focus solely on booking their air travel.
Facilities at the center include lockers, equipment rental, a dive shop, and air fills (including nitrox). While their name might suggest a retail store, they identify as a business focused on trip planning and SCUBA training, rather than a traditional retail establishment. They also feature a local club dives program for regular activities.
Available Courses
2 cursosAdvanced Open Water
The Advanced SCUBA Diver course runs during international group trips, not as a stand-alone class. David — the NAUI Course Director leading the trip — delivers it personally. This is not instruction outsourced to the local resort dive team; the same person organizing and guiding your group's dives is running your certification. The training dives happen in the destination's actual dive sites alongside the rest of the group. On the Fiji trip, that means the skills work is done in Beqa Lagoon, in the same conditions as the standard group boat dives. The environment is real from the first dive, not a sheltered bay removed from the main sites. Certification is offered at a discounted rate for trip participants. Running the Advanced course at home before a trip means a separate scheduling commitment and training in less interesting water. On this itinerary, the certification dives fit into the four-day two-tank boat dive structure already built into the package. Cheryl, a NAUI Dive Master, is also on every trip alongside David. The ratio of NAUI-qualified professionals to divers on any given boat is higher than typical group travel arrangements. NAUI Advanced SCUBA Diver certification is internationally recognized. Completing it here — during a structured international trip with multiple dives across multiple days — provides more real open water time than most home-based Advanced courses offer.
Nitrox Diver
Nitrox Diver certification is offered at a discounted rate for divers traveling with the group, delivered by David in his role as NAUI Course Director on the trip. The instruction runs alongside the regular trip schedule rather than replacing dive days with classroom time. On the Fiji itinerary, the application is immediate: four days of two-tank boat diving across Beqa Lagoon plus the shark dive day. Nitrox changes the practical arithmetic of that schedule — extended bottom time and reduced surface intervals on dives being run back-to-back across multiple days. The discount applies specifically to trip participants. Taking the Nitrox course separately at home costs time and typically involves minimal open water application. Running it during a week of real diving in Fiji means the theory has an immediate practical context, and the certification dives happen in meaningful conditions. David delivers the instruction himself rather than delegating it to the local resort dive operation. NAUI Nitrox certification is internationally recognized and compatible with Nitrox-equipped dive operations worldwide. For divers planning future trips to sites where Nitrox is the standard choice — deeper reef systems, multiple-dive liveaboard itineraries — getting certified during the Fiji trip makes practical sense before the next destination.
