Emergency First Response

The Emergency First Response course at AlisioSub runs in a single day and teaches primary and secondary care first aid — how to assist an injured person and manage situations that require basic emergency response. It is a prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver course and recommended by the center for anyone, diver or not. The practical sessions give participants hands-on time with the emergency response skills covered in the course. The included package covers study materials, instructor time, practice sessions, and certification processing. Minimum age is 12. No prior diving certification is required — the course is open to non-divers as well.

Details

Rescue Diver

The PADI Rescue Diver course at AlisioSub runs 3–5 days and covers problem prevention and emergency management in diving. The program trains participants to recognize stress and warning signs in other divers, respond to panicked or unresponsive divers at the surface and underwater, and manage a diving emergency from start to finish. It is one of the courses the center specifically highlights as both challenging and rewarding. The practical open water sessions take place in Lanzarote waters, putting the rescue scenarios in a real sea environment — not a controlled pool setting. The combination of shore and boat dive access from Puerto del Carmen means the exercises cover realistic conditions for the range of scenarios the course addresses. Prerequisites are an Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) with a minimum of 20 logged dives, plus an Emergency First Response course or a current CPR and primary care first aid qualification from the last two years. Minimum age is 12. The package includes study materials, course-specific equipment, instructor time, open water practice sessions, and PADI certification processing.

Frequently asked

What people ask before booking

Yes. AlisioSub operates daily regardless of season, running both shore dives and boat dives from Puerto del Carmen throughout the year.

Félix is a large grouper who lives in the cave at La Catedral dive site, one of the most popular shore dives in Puerto del Carmen. The local guides know the site well and Félix is a reliable resident — sightings are frequent, though never guaranteed since he's a wild animal.

Yes. The center is recognized as an official operator by the Centros de Arte, Cultura y Turismo de Lanzarote. Their guides are specifically trained to work at the museum, which sits at 14m in the Bahía de Las Coloradas. A morning visit includes a second dive in the area; an afternoon visit is a single dive.

The Discover Scuba (Bautizo) and Open Water Diver course both have a minimum age of 10. Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver start at 12. Emergency First Response also requires a minimum of 12 years. Divemaster requires a minimum age of 18. Snorkeling excursions have no age limit.

All rental gear is from Aqualung and Apeks: WAVE BCDs, Atx40 regulators, 5.5mm Aqualung SAFAGA one-piece wetsuits, adjustable EXPRESS fins, and Aqualung masks and boots. The center describes all equipment as new.

Yes. The center runs boat trips to La Graciosa, with sites including La Burrera, La Roncadera, Veril de las Anclas, Veril de las Langostas, Montaña Amarilla, and Las Cañas. Depths range from 15m to 34m depending on the site.

Yes. The PADI Open Water Diver course is available with eLearning, which lets you complete the theory phase before you arrive. Confined water sessions are done in a sheltered cala when sea conditions allow, rather than a pool.

Yes. El Muellito and Playa Chica are specifically highlighted for night diving — the site description notes how the marine fauna changes after sunset there. Maximum depth is 12m, making it accessible for a wide range of certification levels.
