What people ask before booking
A 'Baptême de Plongée' is your very first experience underwater with a scuba tank, guided by a certified instructor. It's a safe way to discover the sensations of breathing underwater, floating in zero gravity, and observing the aquatic world. The club offers this discovery free of charge, with no commitment required, just for the joy of sharing their passion. You need to bring a swimsuit, towel, swim cap, and your good mood. Mask, fins, and snorkel are a bonus if you have them.
The 'Cycle enfants' (Children's Cycle) is for children aged 8 to 12 years old (8 years completed). The 'Cursus Ado' (Teens' Course) for Level 1 training is for those aged 12 to 17 years old, starting in September for those who are 12 by October 1st. Both programs are designed to introduce young divers to the underwater world in a safe and engaging manner.
The Level 1 course fee for adults is €270. This price includes club membership, the FFESSM license with 'Loisir 1' insurance, theoretical and practical lessons, the loan of equipment (BCD, regulators, tanks) for the duration of the training, two sea dives during the 'Premières bulles' weekend, and your Level card, passport, and logbook. Additional costs include travel and meals for the 'Premières bulles' day, the Meyzieu dive pit session (€28), and the validation dives (€28 per dive).
For the Level 2 course, you will need to provide your own fins, mask, snorkel, a surface marker buoy (parachute de palier), an dive computer, weights (with belt), and your personal wetsuit. The club will provide the BCD, regulators, and tanks.
To enroll in the Level 3 course, you must have already obtained your Level 2 certification or an equivalent. A medical certificate of 'Absence de Contre-Indication à la plongée' (CACI) from a general practitioner is required. You must also commit to attending all pool sessions, theoretical courses, technical dives (a minimum of 5 before the final stage), and the 5-day final stage in April. A total of 30 dives post-Level 2 are required, with at least 15 dives beyond 30 meters, subject to an initial evaluation dive.
RIFAP stands for 'Réaction Face à un Accident de Plongée' (Reaction to a Diving Accident). It is a specific first aid and sea rescue certification for underwater activities, delivered after completing this training. It is mandatory for obtaining FFESSM diplomas such as Initiator, Level 3, and Level 4. The course teaches rescue techniques in water, first aid for diving accidents, and how to alert emergency services using VHF or GSM. It empowers participants to know what to do in an emergency, making their assistance invaluable.
