The Try Dive at Scubafriends Tenerife is the entry point for anyone who has never put a regulator in their mouth. No certification is required and no prior swimming experience beyond basic comfort in water. The instructors take you through everything from the surface — mask, breathing, buoyancy — before heading down into the Atlantic waters off Costa Adeje.

The center runs these in small groups, following the same five-to-six person cap that applies across all their programs. The Atlantic around Tenerife has no coral reef, but the variety of marine life accessible from shore or a short boat ride makes it a legitimate first dive environment rather than a backup option.

Instruction is available in Italian, Spanish, and English. This is the step before the Open Water course — a way to confirm the underwater world is for you before committing to certification.
