The air baptism at Perception Plongée runs as a half-day at sea out of the private port «Portland» in Hyères. You get a briefing with the essential basics, then one dive to a maximum of 6 metres lasting around 20 minutes. The water around Hyères — gateway to the Porquerolles and Port-Cros national marine park — means even that shallow first dive puts you above a genuinely protected seabed. Guillaume runs groups capped at 8 on the boat, so the briefing is personal rather than a crowd lecture. He has over 25 years of diving behind him and roughly 6,000 logged dives, including a career as a Navy deminer — that experience shapes how he approaches beginners. The point of the baptism is straightforward: breathe underwater, float neutrally, take it in. A family pack is available at €210 for one adult and one child, which makes this a realistic option for parents wanting to share the experience. The baptism is also the stated prerequisite for the Niveau 1 course if you want to continue.

Initiation rEvo

A full day, two dives — one in the morning and one in the afternoon — dedicated entirely to the rEvo rebreather. Available from Niveau 1 upwards. The format gives you enough bottom time to actually learn the machine rather than just experience it once. The two sessions cover the technical presentation of the rEvo in detail: gas management on a closed-circuit system, buoyancy control with a CCR loop, and the difference in breathing mechanics compared to open circuit. Dives depart from Hyères toward the Porquerolles and Port-Cros sites, so the underwater scenery is the protected Mediterranean coastline of the Var national park. This course sits between the Baptême rEvo and the full Diluant Air certification. It doesn't issue a formal certification but gives you the practical time needed to decide whether to commit to the €1,300 formation. Guillaume's stated goal across all these entry points is to demystify technical diving — this day is the most concrete expression of that.

Niveau 1 / Open Water

Four dives over two days, for divers from age 12. The certification authorises supervised diving to 20 metres — enough to reach most of the main reef structures around Porquerolles and the shallower wrecks. The course covers three areas: autonomous equipment management, water comfort, and conduct within a dive group (palanquée). Aquatic ease is explicitly the priority at this level. Dives are a minimum of 45 minutes each — longer than the industry standard for training dives — because the stated philosophy is that real skill comes from time underwater, not rushed exercises. Porquerolles' protected waters provide a reasonable training environment: moderate depth, good visibility on calm days, varied seabed. Prerequisites are a prior baptism dive and a medical certificate attesting fitness to dive. Minors need written parental consent. The ANMP (French) or IANTD international certification is issued on completion at additional cost (€30 or €105 respectively).

Niveau 2 / Deep Diver

Eight dives plus theory sessions, spread over 10 half-days. Available from age 16. The certification covers autonomous diving to 20 m and supervised dives to 40 m — which opens up the deeper wreck dives around Hyères, including the Donator and the Grec. Tank is included in the course price. The syllabus at this level adds dive planning and organisation, reaction to incident management, diver rescue, and safety stops. Ten half-days means the course is not compressed — you're building muscle memory across multiple sessions rather than cramming everything into a weekend. The minimum 60-minute dive policy that applies to explorations extends to training here too. For divers who want to continue toward technical diving, the Niveau 2 (or equivalent PA40 with Nitrox certification) is the gateway into the rEvo Diluant Air training. The progression from N2 to CCR is explicitly designed as a short path rather than a long detour at Perception Plongée.

Formations Nitrox

Two dives, covering enriched-air mixtures up to 40% oxygen. Teaches the principles of oxygen toxicity limits, adjusted no-decompression times, and the practical benefits of nitrox on bottom time and surface interval management. Useful on any dive where you want more time at depth before hitting NDL limits. Diving around Porquerolles and Port-Cros on nitrox rather than air makes a measurable difference at 20–30 m — you get more minutes on the reef structures or inside the shallower sections of the wrecks. The training is done in the Mediterranean, so conditions are familiar rather than abstract pool exercises. Nitrox certification is a prerequisite for the Diluant Air rEvo formation (combined with Niveau 2 / PA40), so for divers eyeing technical CCR diving this course is a practical stepping stone rather than a standalone add-on.

Formation Diluant Air

Eight dives, initial certification on the rEvo hCCR with air diluent. Covers no-deco dives to 30–40 m on air diluent and 45 m with a light Trimix mix (via the ART component). Prerequisite is Niveau 2 or PA40 plus Nitrox certification. Guillaume is a certified rEvo instructor — the only discipline he teaches on the CCR side. The course is structured as either initial formation or crossover from another CCR system (priced separately at €990 for 6 dives). Both routes end at the same place: autonomous rEvo operation on the sites around Hyères — the wrecks, the deeper reef walls of Port-Cros, and the Porquerolles structures that go below the recreational ceiling. rEvo units are available on site for purchase or rental (€300/week during training). The 60-minute minimum dive policy applies throughout, which at CCR means genuinely long bottom times compared to open circuit — the defining advantage the course is built around. Certification is issued as IANTD (€105) or ANMP (€30) depending on your preference.

Cross-over Diluant Air rEvo

Six dives, for certified CCR divers on other systems transitioning to the rEvo. The crossover assumes existing CCR competence and focuses on rEvo-specific handling: scrubber management, bailout procedures on the specific geometry of the rEvo unit, and the breathing loop characteristics that differ from other mCCR or eCCR platforms. Guillaume holds instructor qualifications on the rEvo specifically, so this isn't a generic crossover — it's delivered by someone who has trained on multiple CCR platforms in a military and recreational context. Dives take place in the same Hyères / Porquerolles / Port-Cros environment as the initial formation. rEvo units are available on site for rental (€300/week during training) for crossover candidates who don't yet own the machine. Certification issued as IANTD international on completion.
