The Sidemount specialty at Scubafriends Tenerife trains divers to carry two independent cylinders mounted at the sides of the body rather than on the back. The configuration, originally developed for cave diving, is now used by recreational divers for its redundancy, streamlined profile, and reduced back strain.
The center's technical background — with a Course Director holding Tec 50 and Trimix ratings — means the Sidemount course here sits within a teaching environment that understands the configuration in its technical context, not just as a recreational variant.
