SSI Plongeur de Nuit et Visibilité Limitée

Night diving in the lakes of the Untermain region is a different experience from tropical night dives — quieter, darker, and with fauna that rewards patient observers. The centre describes watching pike hunting at dusk as one of the draws of this course in home waters. The two open-water dives start at dusk and run into full darkness, which means the course is planned as a single evening session.

Theory is covered via e-Learning before the first dive. The practical side includes entering the water at last light, primary torch use, backup torch handling when the main light fails — which they simulate deliberately — and safe night exit procedures. Coordination with your buddy in the dark is a specific focus.

Specialty equipment for the course (lift bags, obstacles, torches) is provided at no extra cost. Drysuit and dive computer are explicitly excluded from the included kit. Own ABC gear is required, though it can be hired separately for €35 for the course.

Prerequisite is SSI Referral Diver or equivalent from any recognised agency. Minimum age is 10 years. A valid dive medical certificate is required before the open-water dives. Site entry fees and parking costs are charged separately.
