Beginner Dive Course

The entry-level certification course offered at Port Grimaud, giving access to the full Gulf of Saint-Tropez dive area once completed. The centre covers everything from first pool sessions through to open-water dives in the Mediterranean.

Port Grimaud sits at the mouth of the gulf, with boat access to the same wreck fields and reef sites that the fun diving groups use. Completing the course here means the progression from student to certified diver happens in water that will become immediately familiar for follow-on dives.

The teaching staff at the European Diving School train their own guides and instructors, which means the people running beginner courses have direct knowledge of the local sites. When the course moves to open water, the instructors know exactly where conditions are calmest for skills practice versus where the more interesting marine life is.

For anyone who wants to continue after certification, the advanced courses and specialties — including wreck and nitrox — run out of the same bases. The wreck diving in this area, with sites like Le Rubis at 34–38 metres and Le Tell from 5 metres, gives certified divers a natural next step.
