Initiateur

The club explicitly prepares candidates for Niveau 3, Niveau 4, and Initiateur grades — the upper end of the FFESSM/CMAS ladder that leads toward instructor qualifications. Thomas SCHWAB (N4, Initiateur E2) oversees the adult technical direction, and Sébastien MARTIN (N4, E2) leads N1 formation, both providing the upper-level supervision these programmes require.

N3 and N4 preparation follows the federal curriculum with theory sessions in the club's premises and open-water sessions at suitable sites. The NEMO 33 in Brussels (33m) is one of the sites the club accesses, relevant for depth requirements at N3 level and above. The Gravière du Fort's deeper sections and the Ecrouves fosse complete the local options.

The Initiateur grade (E1/E2) is the first formal teaching qualification in the FFESSM system — it allows supervision of students under a more senior instructor. Candidates at this level train alongside the existing encadrant team, benefiting from direct observation of how experienced monitors run sessions across the N1, N2, and apnée programmes.

The Cours Initiateurs are listed as a distinct category in the club's theoretical course calendar, and the RIFAP first-aid certification — also run by the club — is a prerequisite for most encadrant grades. RIFAP sessions (Réanimation et Intervention face aux Accidents de Plongée) appear in the 2026 calendar at Piscine Belle Isle.
