Description du Cours

The Formation moniteur professionnel (DEJEPS) at Leucate Plongée is a comprehensive professional qualification designed to prepare individuals for a career as a certified diving instructor in France. This program, delivered by the CREPS of Montpellier, is recognized as equivalent to a Level III certification within the National Register of Professional Certifications. Leucate Plongée has been actively involved in supporting apprentice instructors through this pathway since 2005, offering a robust curriculum that covers all facets of professional diving education and dive management.

The DEJEPS qualification empowers graduates to teach diving up to 40 meters, function as a Dive Director, and serve as a training tutor. With an additional certificate, this depth limit can extend to 60 meters. The training curriculum is meticulously structured into four distinct units (UC), encompassing essential pedagogical skills, dive direction techniques, navigation, rescue procedures, equipment maintenance, and the organization of underwater hiking excursions. The program runs annually from January to October, integrating multiple internship periods ('stage en entreprise') to ensure practical, hands-on experience in real-world diving center operations.

Admission to this demanding program requires a solid foundation in diving, including a minimum of 100 dives in natural environments, with at least 30 of these dives conducted below 30 meters within the last five years. Candidates must also possess a PSE1 (First Aid Level 1) certification and a coastal boat license. While not strictly mandatory, holding a Level 4 qualification or an equivalent certification is strongly recommended for applicants seeking to maximize their success in the program. This rigorous selection process ensures that all participants are well-prepared for the challenges and responsibilities of professional dive instruction.

Beyond the technical and pedagogical aspects of diving instruction, the DEJEPS program also delves into the entrepreneurial side of the industry. Participants gain insights into business creation, equipping them with the knowledge to potentially manage their own dive center or operations. The extensive training, spanning from January to October, includes significant practical application through internships, providing invaluable experience that bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and professional practice. Leucate Plongée's commitment to this program underscores its dedication to fostering the next generation of professional dive educators in France.
