Description du Cours
Freediving at CPS is run through a dedicated commission that covers both recreational and competitive apnea. The club has a competition team that entered events in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, Molsheim, Mulhouse, and Huningue during the 2025–2026 season — seven competitors represented the club at the Saint-Dié event in early 2026 alone. The recreational pathway feeds into this competition structure for those who want to progress.
Pool sessions at the Piscine de Sélestat form the backbone of freediving training. Open-water freediving at the quarry lakes requires a C1 minimum-qualified instructor to be present — a stricter safety threshold than for recreational scuba. The gravière du Fort and the other local quarries provide calm freshwater conditions for breath-hold work outside the pool.
CPS is affiliated with the FFESSM, which governs freediving training in France. The club's apnea commission is one of the more active sections, with regular competition participation and its own organizational calendar. Members interested in competing rather than just training recreationally will find an established team structure already in place.
